Week 6 Group F : Sergey Ponomarenko, Dominic Dod and John Chabowski

13 Aug

Good evening, Mark and fellow students. My name is Sergey Ponomarenko, student number 3860170. Our group is myself, Dominic Dod and John Chabowski. We will be doing our assessment B in week 5. I don’t think my group members are registered yet, but as soon as they do they will post in here to identify themselves.

Now, regarding the subject. I found it quite fascinating how our ancestors had their own “real” social networking, which was essential for their survival and evolution. I wonder if there is some biological instinct in us, which almost compels us to go on Facebook and “socialize” digitally. May be our brains are wired that way, that as soon as we see the possibility of having a large number of ‘friends’ in one place, we grasp it. Just like we enjoy eating high calorie food (junk food), because our biological instincts tell us that it is an easy source of calories and fat, which were much harder to get during the cavemen age and were essential for survival. May be in the similar way we see Facebook and other social networking websites as the possibility to keep a large group of people in contact with us, so that when you are in danger it will be easier to find someone who can help. There might be some biological connection.
